Fusion Order Mgmt Cloud – Enabling Item Substitution functionality on Sales Order

Replacing an item with some other item to fulfill the sales order when the item is out of stock or partially available. Item Substitution will work only when the base item is not available in Inventory.

If the ordered item is partially available, then the line get split into ordered item and the substitute item for the remaining quantity

GOP can use a substitute item to fulfill an order line when the ordered item is out of stock. User can also use the Substitute Item action from Fulfillment view.

Implementation steps:

  1. Create item substitution rule in PIM
  2. Run Collections
  3. Create order with Base Item and set “Allow item Substitution= Yes”
  1. Item Relationship

Navigation: Product Management > Product Information Management > Manage Items > Search for and Edit the Base item > Relationship Tab (Use Manage Item Relationships task to create the relationships)

  • Add Substitute item
    • Defining Item# AS46335 is the substitute for the Item# AS46334 


2. Make sure that the base item doesn’t have any on-hand to fulfill the demand Sales Order line item.

3. Run Collections to collect the Substitute Relation Type and Item on-hand quantities

4. Create Sales Order with the Base Item# AS46334  and “Allow Substitution Flag” flag to Yes

  • Clock on Estimated Order Availability to check the Availability status
  • Submit the order for processing
  • Sales Order line got split into 2 as belows, since the Base Item is partially available
  • Switch to Fulfillment View and verify “Original Item” Attribute
    • Add “Original Item” column to the fulfillment View

Limitations:

  1. Item substitution feature isn’t supported in Drop Ship Scenarios
  2. Item substitution is allowed for standard items, but not for the model items like CTO/PTO/Kit
